Countdown to HealthWatch - Event 6 March 2012

February 24th, 2012

healthwatch-countdown

‘Countdown to HealthWatch’ is being organized by Telford & Wrekin LINk to ensure that everyone in our local community is kept informed about the changes that are taking place to the way services are being planned, commissioned and delivered by the NHS and/or the local council.

Whenever we can we will use our influence to provide opportunities for you to have your say about plans being made for changes taking place locally.

If you can’t get along to the ‘Countdown to HealthWatch’ meeting on Tuesday 6 March please do check our website as we will be putting lots of back ground information on it in between now and then about local HealthWatch, and also HealthWatch England.

You can also keep in touch by phone or email – and also Facebook (us e the Telford Talks pages on Facebook to start conversations that other Facebook users can respond – you may find lots of people think the same way as you, but you’ll also need to be prepared to be challenged!

If you are interested in working with us to set up a SHADOW HEALTHWATCH please try to come to the ACTION PLANNING session at 6.15 – but if you can make it please get on touch so we can let you know when the next meeting will take place.

What sort of help are we looking for? The short answer is enthusiasm, conviction and a ‘can do’ attitude. If you have skills and expertise in running an organization we’d like to put your knowledge to good use be it in preparing publicity, chairing meetings, providing legal advice or managing volunteers. If you have spare time and like meeting people you can help us run the roadshows planned this summer across Telford & Wrekin.

Please do get in touch if you are interested in finding out more about LINk and/ or the Countdown to HealthWatch initiative. We look forward to meeting you on 6 March, or hearing from you whenever you have time to call or email us.

Please see details below of a session about Personalisation on the 28th of February.

It is a FREE event and open to anyone who’s interested.

To book a place and recieve an agenda for the meeting contact:

More details below

An Introduction to Personalisation
Tuesday 28th February, 1.30 – 4.30pm
Oakengates Theatre, Telford

The personalisation agenda in Social Care means that service users are being given their own personal budgets, effectively becoming individual commissioners. It is predicted that by April 2013, over a million people will have a personal budget.

The opening up of service provision means that artists now have the opportunity to develop and offer services that creatively meet the needs of individuals. This free event offers an introduction to personalisation, how its delivery is structured and how to prepare for this growing micro market. It will include examples of work that is currently being developed including Telford and Wrekin development of guidelines for minimum standards and pilot of a quality mark for independent service providers.

The event features contributions from:

•    Tony Nottingham, independent consultant and support broker working in the area of personal budgets
•    Katrina McCormack, Group Specialist Micro Markets, Telford and Wrekin Council
•    Cathryn Ravenhall, Business Manager, Escape Community Arts
•    Steph Brett, Wyldwoods Creative Arts for Wellbeing
•    Sharon Walford, Towers Above community arts group

There will also be opportunities for discussion, sharing experiences and networking.

To book a place, contact sarah-jane@praxisartsandhealth.org.uk stating whether you have any access requirements.
